CCRAB promotes environmental justice and public health through research, education, and citizen science. We serve environmental justice communities, which are underresourced and predominantly Black communities that have been disproportionately impacted by longstanding racially-uneven patterns of industrial development, highway expansion and port development. The vibrant communities of Accabee, Chicora-Cherokee, Five Mile, Howard Heights, Liberty Hill, Rosemont, Union Heights, and Windsor Place are older, established neighborhoods where many people own the family homes in which they reside.
